God Will Always Answer Your Hope
We are only a few days away from 2018 and many are planning their resolutions. We will also see in the coming days several recaps of major events of 2017. I recall 2016 being marked by celebrity deaths and now 2017 is the year of political turmoil. Usually you can feel the excitement for the start of a new year but this time I feel people’s apprehension in the air.
So, as we make those familiar resolutions, we should also consider something new. Let’s resolve this year to have more hope and to not lose hope no matter what we face personally, as a family or as a nation. We must resolve to stand in faith and maintain hope of God’s salvation.
“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory. We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.” (Romans 5:1-5).
The difficult things we face mature us and build character which in turn grows our hope. And what the Bible is basically telling us is that if we have hope, God will not disappoint us but will in fact save us from whatever is oppressing us. Now that is confidence. And on our part, all we have to do is have hope and God is going to answer that hope.
The world is simply growing darker and the Bible tells us about this shift but we cannot live in fear if we confess Jesus. We must have hope. In fact, your hope may have to carry others through great trials and tribulations until they can be established in Christ for themselves.
So, as we enter this new year, if you are struggling with feeling hopeless, please hold on to your hope. I know that the situation may seem dire and you may feel like there is no way you will get out of it unscathed but with hope you always have a chance to come back from whatever happens. Hope provides the opportunity for another chance, another start because God will always answer your hope.
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and will not fear when heat comes; but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.” (Jeremiah 17:7-8).
“For there is hope for a tree, if it is cut down, that it will sprout again, and that its tender shoots will not cease. Though its root may grow old in the earth, and its stump may die in the ground, yet at the scent of water it will bud and bring forth branches like a plant.” (Job 14:7-9).
Be hopeful and be blessed!
