I was not aware until recently that there are Holocaust deniers. That’s actually a thing. I was baffled to learn that despite all the documented history, both oral and written, there are those who say it was a big propaganda campaign. It seems hard to imagine but let’s remember that some people don’t believe the Bible is real either even though it is clearly a historical text whose timelines reflect that of the most renowned world history textbooks. There are also volumes of archeological findings that all verify the validity of the Bible as a historical text.
Holocaust historian Deborah Lipstadt was actually sued by a Holocaust denier and though she prevailed in the case, she still had to endure her beliefs being put on trial. But you will find in life often people will put you on trial for what you believe, even sometimes people who say they believe as you believe.
Hey, it happened to Jesus, so why would we think it couldn’t happen to us? Can you believe the Sadducees and Pharisees were upset that people were getting healed? They were upset that the God they spent their lives studying was now being presented to the people in a manner that they could comprehend and the lives of the common people were getting better because of it. So these men got mad at Jesus for manifesting the power of God. He didn’t follow their rules. He showed a little too much wisdom. A little too much passion. And so they put Him on trial literally and figuratively.
There will be deniers in your life. They will deny your testimony, your sincerity, your commitment, even your motives. But I’ve learned that God doesn’t bless what’s not truly about Him. My life is so blessed, even in the rough patches, because God truly is at the core. I battled depression for years and used to wake up thinking, “Oh no, not another day I have live through.”
Now, even when I am extremely stressed and a little cranky, I still wake up thinking, “I wonder what God has planned for today?” He centers me and He helps me regroup when I’ve started to flow off track a bit.
So today, I challenge you to stop listening to your deniers and seek the voice of God. God keeps the mind at peace that is stayed on Him (Isaiah 26:3). Take a note from Jesus’ playbook. People were saying all kinds of things about Him. One moment they were praising Him and the next moment they were bashing Him. But in it all He stayed focused on His mission, on His purpose and He kept speaking the truth no matter who liked it. And God said to Him, “This is my beloved Son with whom I am well pleased.” (Matthew 3:17).
So if you want to hear God say, “Well done my good and faithful servant,” look to Jesus’ example (Matthew 25:21). Be blessed!
